1) Twilight Sky Bar, Pan Pacific, 25th floor — the only rooftop with a clean sweep of West Lake, Truc Bach and the citadel; cocktails $10-14. 2) Skyline Hanoi, Hang Trong — mid-rise but sits directly over Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple; $8-12, good for sunset. 3) Summit Lounge at Pan Pacific (same building, one floor up) — better food, same view, slightly more formal.
The next two
4) The Rooftop at Hotel de l’Opera — 10 floors up, looks straight down onto the 1911 Opera House and across the French Quarter tiled roofs. Cocktails $9. 5) Lighthouse Sky Bar on Hang Trong — less polished but the cheapest of the top five at $6 a cocktail, and the crowd is younger. Skip the Lotte Tower Observation Deck bar unless you want to be far from the interesting parts of town.
Practical notes
Book Twilight and Skyline for sunset — walk-ins after 5:30pm often get turned away Nov-Mar. Dress code is smart-casual; long trousers and closed shoes for men at Twilight after 7pm. All five accept card. If it rains they move you inside with the same view through glass. Happy hours run 5-7pm at most rooftops with 20-30% off — worth timing your citadel visit around.
